Sometimes you just have one of those days, maybe you woke up on the wrong side of the bed, maybe you put your shirt on inside out, who knows. Can you guess which type of day I had? When I saw that I could read my shirt correctly in the mirror, I noticed something was up. That's when I realized how important the little details of life are! My favorite part of creating an outfit is choosing the accessories and styling the look because I really believe they can make or break an outfit. From now on I want to spend more time focusing on the smaller aspects of my outfit because I think they make all the difference. And if I do, maybe it will help keep me from looking like I got dressed in the dark. Which actually is what happened.

Why Did We Wear That? Worst Fashion Crimes of the 2000s.

In honor of all the stylish trends we have now, let's take a look back at all of the fashion mishaps and mistakes of the 2000s:

Also known as the precursor to the snuggie, I give you the poncho.
Oh hey I have a blanket that looks just like that, except mine doesn't have a hole in the middle...

Gauchos.

Why was it is considered cool to confuse people about if you were wearing a 

skirt or pants...you tell me!

The Popcorn Shirt.

Remember these? Hopefully not. In stores they appeared to be made for dolls, or maybe a three year old, but voila!
When on, it fit like a normal shirt--magic!

One word. Crocs. 

Platform Flip Flops.

Some women thought that platform flip flops would make them appear taller, thinner--irresistible--when it reality
we all wondered why they had strapped styrofoam blocks to their feet.

Now in case you're wondering, I've never committed any of these fashion crimes.
I definitely didn't own gauchos in brown, black, and gray, a red knit poncho, a blue tie-dye popcorn shirt, and pink furry Crocs.
No. Definitely not. *cough cough*

Hotter Than the Sun

Wrinkles are the bane of my existence. When I was wearing these shorts I seriously considered not sitting down the whole day. But, what are you going to do when your power goes out for three and a half days so you have to drive 40 minutes away to find refuge for all your food at your aunt's house and either choose to walk in the 100 degree weather for 14 miles or suck it up, sit down and drive there? Well looking at the shape that my shorts ended up in, I think it's easy to tell which option I chose.

The only bonus was, at least my shorts kept me cool!

There's something about crisp white cloth against tan skin in the summer that looks so great. Now I can't get too excited about this because I haven't been poolside yet, but soon I will be showing off my sun-kissed skin--which hopefully will hide my shorts/sock/racerback tan lines...Well, a girl can hope!

Sweet n' Sporty

I had a really nice adventure this weekend getting a free cupcake (banana split- yum!) from the best place ever....Georgetown Cupcake! Some of you might know it better as DC Cupcakes from the TLC show, but it's the prettiest, pinkest, and most delicious shop in all of Georgetown (which if you don't happen to know is located in a little city called Washington, D.C.) On our way home we spotted a Mother Goose-esque house with a garden on the roof! 

Anyways, as everyone should know, the olympics are in London this summer starting on July 27th. For their June issue, Vogue teamed up with olympic athletes and model Karlie Kloss for an awesome photo shoot that showcases the athletes and their sports. (See it here) It seems like everyone else is thinking about the olympics too, I saw an article in the Wall Street Journal about Olympics inspired sporty ensembles such as Tommy Hilfiger, Kenzo, and Isabel Marant. So although I haven't caught on with this yet, I've still got about a month to warm up to it. Until then, GO team USA!
