Fall Transition

//H&M pants//Nordstrom tee//DIY vest//Steve Madden desert boots//vintage sunglasses//

It's the time of year now where our bright colored clothes seem too summery, but our winter staples are too dark and gloomy. Fear not! It's easy to find a happy medium between the two during this in-between month. I decided to pair my kelly green pants with my dark gray long sleeve tee to contrast the light and dark hues. Then, by adding a pop of color with the scarf, the outfit gets a little warmth but maintains the boldness.

But that's enough of this color nonsense, more importantly I need to decide which shoes I want to get for the quickly approaching holiday season! Updates from my search will come later...

Red Hot and Ready for the Runway

Yesterday was the 2nd Annual Nordstrom B.P. Fashion Board Fashion Show! In case you have no idea what I'm talking about you can remind yourself here. And Yes It Is Capital Letter Worthy. This year the theme was homecoming, but it was combined with fall looks. Each model chose a fall school look and a homecoming dress to strut in down the runway. During the show, each girl modeled their fall outfit--performed an impossible quick-change--then remained calm enough to gracefully float down the runway in a sparkly dress for their second look. All the while the paparazzi snapped pictures and the editor-in-chiefs jotted notes about the stunning high-fashion haute couture styles they observed. Next month they will all appear in VOGUE and teenagers will hightail it to the nearest B.P. to buy everything in sight.

Okay I got a little carried away there, but the show was a complete success! As a model, I loved being able to style my own outfit because last year we did not have that opportunity. Coincidentaly enough, while everyone was enjoying coffee in the store after the show, I took the time to look around and score some new clothes! I love the way my new blood red jeans and olive green military jacket go together perfectly. It's like red and green with a twist, so I don't look like a Christmas tree! Also according my last post I am totally on trend right now. Go me!

I'll post the paparazzi pics when the editors approve them, and choose which ones they want for the magazine.

On a side note: Fall=Apple Cider=Best thing ever.

TeenVOGUE Sept. 2012

Welcome to the first installment of my Teen Vogue inspiration posts! The magazine inspires me with every issue, so I just want to share my thoughts with you!

This just in: The old saying "less is more" is no more! For this fall, the fashion world is screaming at us from every glossy magazine page that MORE is actually better! What it boils down to people is "fashion eccentricity". This month, Teen Vogue emphasized that fact that Fall 2012 is not for the light of heart. Page after page of layered heavy knits, seven-piece suits, clunky creeper shoes, pattern play, and ornate Baroque outfits prove my point. Fashion fearlessness is not an easy feat, but it helps that the celebrity world is on board with us. This article said it perfectly: it's time for us to embrace individuality and load up on every fashion trend we love, even if it's in the same outfit.

I know, I know, it's easy to say that you're not afraid to dress to express yourself, but we all know it takes some guts. Take this picture of me for example:

I was only five years old, so of course I didn't care what people thought of me. So next time you're getting dressed and considering whether or not you look ridiculous, remember this picture and think, "Hey I can't look any weirder than that!" and walk outside with a whole new level of confidence!

Geek Chic- a la Bensimon

This summer I brought home lots of things from France, but my best purchase was my two pairs of Bensimon shoes! If you're not familiar with the brand, la tennis Bensimon is a French military inspired shoe company that makes linen, canvas, and rubber shoes out of recycled army materials. It is all the rage in France, and I hardly saw a single person who was not wearing a pair of some sort. They come in different styles and MANY different colors or patterns, but I liked these two the best!

The great thing about buying them in Europe though is that they were only 27 Euros, which is about 40 American dollars. That's not bad considering online they sell for $55+shipping and $70-85 at Madewell.

They're cute comfortable and totally trendsetting--I have only seen one person in the U.S. wearing them (and I know she happens to be European, so that hardly counts...) I would suggest to pick up a pair on your next hop on over to France...whenever that is...and you can be one-of-a-kind!

Unless...does anyone already have a pair/heard of Bensimon?

Geek-chic today because of the buttoned alltheway up shirt. Plus I just bought a new pair of glasses channeling my inner Clark Kent. But they're Juicy so it's okay!

Madewell shirt, Bensimon shoes, and new Gap 1969 always skinny jeans. Super comfortable and the perfect fit. French fishtailed my hair to spice things up a bit!
