Sparkle & Fade.

Inspired this week by the most recent Teen Vogue issue (Feb. 12) and the story they did on hair and nails. I loved this one the most,  particularly the orange crush nails. I decided to try my own version of it in a more subtle way because the blue sparkles I had were a bit too overwhelming.

The process is really simple though! Start with a coat of polish in a similar color to your glitter, then in a little dish (I used an empty contact lens case) press your nail  down then shake off the excess. To seal the glitter, cover with one or two coats of clear polish. Sephora sells their own version by OPI that comes already in a little container.

Also, my new Calvin Klein crossbody bag--doubles as a clutch when you take the strap off!

ps. slight nod to PLL in the last picture...it was on last night but I haven't seen it yet. Aria anyone?

The Homestead Photo Diary

Just came back from the Homestead resort and spa for winter break. The atmosphere there is so peaceful and relaxing, I didn't have a care in the world. But now I'm back to reality and ready to start off the new year! Introducing my sister into the mix: she is an aspiring actress with a high tolerance for my demand for her to be my photographer.

My glasses finally arrived right before the trip so this is my debut wearing of them!

Holiday cheer!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone! My wishes were granted yesterday when I opened up a package to reveal my coveted watch! I love that the little dials actually tell the day of the week, the date, and the time in military hours. I'll keep updating with some of my other Christmas surprises-- starting with the belt and scarf I wore today.

Madewell shirt and belt, Nordstrom scarf, Fossil Riley watch, Ralph Lauren boots, Gap 1969 Jeans.

One last thing...

Now this is a watch.

Currently I have a different watch from Fossil (this one), which I luh-ve by the way. BUT the top of my wishlist is the rose gold beauty pictured above. I love that the face is covered with crystals but not in a Bedazzled-gone-wrong sort of way. Just in a perfect way. I also like the boyfriend style, and this one is not too big or clunky looking.

I cannot wait until Christmas morning!

Watch out!

Nordstrom shirt, H&M pants, Cooperative wedges, F21 necklace, Vera Bradley watch bands.

Today I got inspiration from the December Free People catalogue that I just received, specifically this picture:

...and a little bit of this as well:

I just love the way that it's so flowy and free! I approached the look in a more structured and subdued way...

except for my accessories! Last night I remembered that I had these colorful Vera Bradley patterned watches, so I searched around and dug them up. They are from a set of four bands with an interchangeable watch face. When I opened the box up though, I noticed that the watch had stopped working. So instead of abandoning the idea altogether, I decided to wear them as is! They give an unexpected pop of color to an otherwise monochromatic ensemble.

Love the little things

I love putting outfits together, and accessories are my favorite part! I thought I would focus on all of the little details this week...sort of like micro view.

Channeled my inner ballerina today, and DIY pink tights headband. What? You say... A headband made of tights? Check out how I did it here. Like so many other little girls, I used to dream of being a ballerina. However, when that dream faded away I was left with memories of dance class and many, many pairs of pink tights. Now I have given them a second life!

Fossil watch, Steve Madden Desert boots, Heritage chambray shirt, and Madewell tee.

I seemed to have stumbled upon Stumbleupon! It's how I spend all my free time now...it's where I find cool stuff like this.
